Cyprus extends EV charging grants by two months

Apply for Cyprus EV charging grants by September 30

Newsroom

The deadline for applications for the second phase of the "Electrification with 1000" grant program has been extended by two months, now closing on September 30, 2024, at 12:00 a.m., the Department of Electromechanical Services announced.

This initiative is part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, aimed at promoting a green economy and sustainable transport. The program will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants, with a budget of €2.5 million allocated for this phase. Grants cover up to 45% of the cost for purchasing, installing, and connecting electric vehicle charging points.

The scheme aligns with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works' commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable technologies. It supports the transition to electric vehicles with zero or low CO2 emissions by developing an extensive network of charging points.

Eligible installation sites include public parking areas such as municipal and community lots, private parking spaces at shopping centers, hotels, supermarkets, banks, private hospitals, commercial centers, petrol stations, dedicated charging stations, and on-street parking.

Eligible applicants are individuals, legal entities (companies, associations, foundations, federations), NGOs, public legal entities, and local authorities engaged in economic activities for this purpose and owning or renting public-use parking areas in regions controlled by the Republic of Cyprus. The grants are not available to those intending to install the stations for private use, such as for charging a corporate vehicle fleet.

Further details on the grant program, including application guidelines, can be found at https://ev1000.cea.org.cy.

The Department of Electromechanical Services of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, in collaboration with the Cyprus Energy Office, is responsible for implementing the program.
