The United States announced new sanctions on Wednesday, targeting individuals and companies linked to Cyprus as part of its ongoing efforts to counter Russian aggression. The sanctions, imposed by the U.S. Treasury Department, aim to tighten the economic pressure on entities believed to be supporting Russia's activities.
Among those newly sanctioned are the law firm of Christodoulos Vassiliadis, Kyriakos Attikouris, and Vakanas Antonis Kyriakos, among others. These entities join a list of previously sanctioned individuals and companies, underscoring the U.S. government's commitment to curbing support for Russia.
U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus, Julie D. Fisher, highlighted the significance of these measures in a message to the media. "We continue to use all available tools to counter Russia's aggression," she stated, emphasizing the comprehensive approach the U.S. is taking to address the ongoing geopolitical tensions.
These sanctions are part of a broader strategy to isolate Russia economically and diplomatically, aiming to pressure the nation into compliance with international norms and agreements.
