The Republic of Cyprus has proceeded with the declaration of coordinates for the maritime areas between Cyprus and Turkey. According to Foreign Minister Nicos Christodoulides, the diplomatic service submitted last Saturday a file with GPS coordinates to the United Nations. It is customary that in the absence of an agreement between two countries the median line is set as the EEZ boundary.

The relevant procedures and details said Mr. Christodoulides will be published in the official newspaper of the Republic on Friday, 10th of May.

President Anastasiades has called a meeting of the National Council for Saturday morning to brief party leaders.

Mr Christodoulides also said that a list is being prepared in order to activate the issuing of international arrest warrants for persons offering services to the Turkish drilling rig.

The process of issuing international arrest warrants will take place at the District Court of Nicosia within the day.

Christodoulides said that based on latest information the Turkish rig is not currently performing drilling activities.
