The Republic of Cyprus has submitted its 9th Periodic Report on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), detailing efforts to promote gender equality and combat human trafficking.

According to an official announcement, the Commissioner of Legislation sent the report—covering the period from June 2018 to February 2024—to Cyprus’s Permanent Mission in Geneva via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The document outlines progress in priority areas identified by the UN CEDAW Committee, including women’s participation in decision-making, access to justice, and the implementation of the National Action Plan for Gender Equality.

Key highlights include strengthened measures to prevent gender-based violence, combat discrimination, and integrate gender perspectives into government policies. The report also emphasizes improvements in identifying victims of human trafficking and expanding opportunities for women in politics, education, and employment, with a focus on vulnerable groups.
