In his decree the Health Minister said this was done to protect the Cyprus population

A decree issued by the Health Minister on Friday banned the export of all medicine from Cyprus to any other country, including EU Member States.
According to the decree issued by Constantinos Ioannou on Friday, drugs can only be exported if he provides his written permission after an application is filed by the Director of Customs and all relevant documents are studied by the Health Ministry.
According to the decree, the measure was necessary for the protection of public health and to prevent the potential collapse of the healthcare system, as well as in order to safeguard that the Republic of Cyprus will have sufficient stocks to deal with the coronavirus epidemic.
