A Turkish passenger plane made an emergency landing in divided Cyprus on Wednesday early morning following reported engine trouble.
According to Turkish Cypriot media, flight TK 7846 operated by Turkish Airlines was flying from Dalaman to Beirut on Tuesday night when one of its engines failed.
A tweet by Kibris Postasi showed a brief 7-second video with image and sound but t was not clear what had happened.
The plane, which was carrying dozens of passengers, was reportedly in Cypriot skies when the incident occurred. After passing over the Karpas peninsula, the aircraft made a sharp turn and headed for Ercan, a Turkish Cypriot airport which is not an official port of entry in the Republic of Cyprus.
The emergency landing took place hours before test flights were expected to begin on Wednesday on a new runway, as part of an upgrade with a new terminal at the Turkish Cypriot airport that has been delayed time after time.
Additional reports said the plane landed uneventfully with one engine still running properly.
