Greece visa alert: Financial proof and insurance requirements explained

Newsroom

Travelers planning to visit Greece need a Schengen visa, which permits stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period across the Schengen Area.

As Ary News reports, to obtain a Schengen visa for Greece, applicants must present several key documents: a completed visa application form, a passport issued within the last ten years with at least two blank pages, a recent passport-sized photo, and fingerprints (unless previously recorded in the Visa Information System).

Pakistani applicants, like those from other countries, must also prove they have sufficient funds for their stay. They need to provide bank and credit card statements for the past three months. The minimum daily financial requirement is €50, totaling approximately €1,500 (around Rs468,450) for a 30-day stay. This ensures travelers can cover their expenses without financial difficulty.

Additionally, travelers must have travel medical insurance with a minimum coverage of €30,000, including emergency medical care, hospitalization, and repatriation. The visa fee of €80 must be paid in cash at the Greek Consular Office in Islamabad on the day of the appointment.

These stringent requirements are designed to ensure that travelers are financially prepared and have adequate protection during their stay, reinforcing the Schengen visa system’s integrity.

Greece, renowned for its rich history and stunning landscapes, is a top travel destination. Athens' Acropolis is a highlight, showcasing ancient Greek civilization with landmarks like the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the Erechtheion. The Acropolis Museum offers further insights into ancient Greece through its extensive artifact collection.

Greek islands are also popular. Santorini, famous for its breathtaking sunsets and picturesque white-washed buildings, is ideal for honeymooners and photographers. Mykonos is celebrated for its vibrant nightlife and beaches, while Crete offers a blend of historical sites, such as the Palace of Knossos, and natural beauty, including the Samaria Gorge. Each island presents its own unique attractions, making Greece a diverse and enchanting destination.
