In response to the subsidy schemes for electric vehicles, the Road Transport Department reports significant interest since the application process began on Saturday.
As of Monday morning, 984 applications were received for new electric vehicle purchases, 252 for the exchange to a new low-CO2 hybrid vehicle, 44 for electric bicycles, and 230 for new electric machines. Additionally, 45 applications were submitted for vehicle withdrawal in exchange for free bus tickets and a one-time €500 payment.
The 104 grants for used electric vehicle purchases and 30 grants for large families purchasing new electric vehicles are already exhausted. Professionals are actively participating, with all grants for category N2 and M2 electric vehicles claimed. Notably, 23 applications for new electric taxis and one for the exchange to a low-CO2 hybrid taxi have been submitted.
As of Monday morning, various categories still have available slots for applications. The submission deadline is October 11, 2024, or until funds for each subsidy are depleted, whichever comes first. Interested parties can apply online through the Department of Road Transport's website.
