A low pressure system is affecting Cyprus with showers and strong winds, while a second cold front is expected to affect the island on Sunday with further temperature drops.
A cold front on the way out on Friday is still bringing light showers mainly in the north and out west, but another one is expected to sink temperatures to a new low.
Daytime highs Friday will be in the mid-teens inland and along the coast, while it will be three degrees high up in the mountains where frost conditions remain.
Light rain chances will continue in the evening with showers and thunderstorms also expected in the north and west. Temperature lows will drop to 3 degrees Celsius inland, 5 in the south and east, 8 in all other coastal regions, while it will be two below zero (-2) higher up where frost will form overnight.
Saturday skies will be mostly cloudy with showers and isolated thunderstorms moving into the area, initially in the western half of the island and later across all districts.
Another cooler air mass before the weekend is out
Sunday weather will be colder with cloudy skies, showers, and thunderstorms, while very strong westerly winds are also expected in local areas.
Monday skies will remain partly cloudy with some chances of rain in local areas, while temperatures will continue to drop.
Snowfall is expected throughout the weekend high up in the mountains and also foothill areas. The last measurement of the Troodos Square snow gauge showed 13 inches as recorded Friday morning at 5am.
