Pink Martini is so versatile that they're hard to categorize into a single genre. Are they jazz, lounge, fusion, or all of the above? At the end of the day, they have the secret recipe for the perfect fusion of different genres, resulting in their unique musical genre.
In 1994, Thomas Lauderdale was working as a political aide in his hometown of Portland, Oregon, with aspirations to run for office himself. Like many eager politicians in the fundraising stage, he attended every political shindig under the sun... but was disappointed with the music at these events. Drawing inspiration from music from around the world – as well as from classical, jazz, and old-school pop genres – and hoping to attract both conservatives and liberals, he founded the "little orchestra" Pink Martini. Its aim from the start was to provide beautiful and inclusive musical soundtracks for political fundraisers for purposes such as human rights, affordable housing, environmental actions, library funding, education, and parks.

A year later, Lauderdale called China Forbes, a fellow Harvard alum living in New York, and asked her to join Pink Martini. The rest is history.
Known for their multilingual repertoire, which includes songs in 25 languages, and having been inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame and the Oregon Music Hall of Fame, Pink Martini is celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2024 with a tour that will stop in Limassol for an electrifying performance at the Municipal Garden Theatre "Marios Tokkas" on July 14th.
