A fourth arrest has been made in the brutal killing of a 30-year-old woman in Limassol, as police continue to piece together what they describe as a savage assault inside a Germasogeia apartment last weekend.
This latest arrest comes just days after police detained three women who lived with the victim. All four suspects remain in custody as investigators probe the case as a possible premeditated murder.
According to evidence presented in court, the victim was allegedly beaten violently with a broomstick after a confrontation with her housemates. Investigators said the broomstick was found broken at the scene, while the autopsy revealed she died from severe head injuries.
Police said the three women claimed they had returned home early Sunday morning with friends to find the victim in a frenzied state after reportedly using drugs. They allegedly told investigators that the victim attacked them and that they struck her “in self-defense” to calm her down, realizing only the next morning that she was dead.
But the lead investigator said the evidence suggests otherwise, describing the woman as having been “beaten with fury.” Multiple blows from a blunt object were found all over her body.
Authorities also said the women were engaged in prostitution and had been living in the apartment for about a week. One of them had previously lived with the victim in Nicosia.
The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department is continuing its probe to determine each suspect’s role in the killing and whether the attack was premeditated.
