Minors admit to starting Limassol fire with fireworks

Authorities say fireworks sparked blaze, minors held responsible

Two minors were taken to the police station following testimony related to a fire that broke out Monday afternoon in the Limassol district, between the communities of Lania and Trimiklini.

Authorities revealed Monday evening that the fire was ignited by fireworks.

Police spokesman Christos Andreou, speaking on a state radio broadcast Tuesday morning, said the investigation led to two minors based on witness testimony.

The children, aged 12 and 13, were allegedly using firecrackers and fireworks at the time of the incident. According to Andreou, the minors, accompanied by their parents, admitted their involvement during questioning at the police station.
