A motorcyclist who appears to have been speeding down the Nicosia-Limassol highway lost his life on Wednesday after his bike skidded off the road crashing into a field.
The motorcyclist, 62-year-old Panayiotis Karanikolas, lost control of his motorcycle near the Moutagiaka exit on the Nicosia-Limassol highway.
Head of Limassol traffic police Michalis Michael said the 62-year-old, who was wearing a protective helmet, was transferred to the Limassol General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
“Evidence suggests that he driving at quite a high speed,” Michael said, but noted investigations are ongoing to determine what caused the motorbike to go off course.
