New measures - Masks required everywhere from Friday in Greece

All festive events are canceled

A new package of measures to curb the spread of the omicron variant was announced today by Greek government spokesman, Giannis Oikonomou, and Greek Health Minister, Thanos Plevris.

The measures concern two stages. The first concerns their enforcement from tomorrow, Friday, until January 2, while the second part concerns the enforcement of measures from January 3 onwards.

The measures announced are as follows:

  • Cancellation of all mass festive events in open spaces
  • Mandatory use of masks indoors and outdoors
  • Mandatory use of KN95 mask or double protection in supermarkets and public transport
  • Testing recommendation for travelers entering the country on the 2nd and 4th day after arrival
