Nicosia, China universities seal deal to boost law education and research

Press Release

The University of Nicosia and China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) have signed an MoU to enhance collaboration in law education and research. The MoU outlines several areas of cooperation, including the exchange of visits, staff, and students, fostering cooperative research, and co-sponsoring seminars, conferences, and workshops. The MoU also includes the mutual dissemination of academic publication materials and other information, cooperation in training projects for specified areas of development, and the implementation of programs sponsored by both countries.

Professor Achilles C. Emilianides, Dean of the School of Law, and Professor Li Juqian, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions during the signing ceremony.

CUPL is one of the most selective universities in China, having achieved the highest status "A+" in legal studies, as evaluated by the Chinese Ministry of Education. It is consistently ranked amongst the best universities in China in Political Sciences and Law. Since 2008, it has also hosted the China-EU School of Law (CESL), which is the only Sino-foreign law school accredited in China. CESL was founded on the basis of an agreement between the European Communities and the Chinese Government.

The University of Nicosia is committed to fostering international partnerships that enhance legal education and research. This MoU with CUPL represents a significant step towards achieving these goals and strengthening the ties between the two institutions.
