On 3 September 2018, the organizers of the 2nd Cyprus Open Data Hackathon held an Info Day for the competition at the premises of ARIS in Limassol.
The event was organized with the aim to provide useful information and guidelines to the participants about the Hackathon, with emphasis on the technical aspects of the competition and the opportunities arising from the re-use of open datasets, which are available both through the National and European Open Data Portals, as well as other sources of data.
During the event, Mrs. Eliza Loucaidou, Senior Manager at the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Centre of Deloitte, gave a warm welcome to all the attendees on behalf of the organizing committee of the competition, and a brief introduction about the Hackathon. More information on the technical specifications and the evaluation criteria for the competition was presented by Mr. Valentinos Evripidou, Member of hack{cyprus}.
In addition Mr. Dimitris Michail, from the Public Administration and Personnel Department of the Ministry of Finance and Member of the Public Sector Information Team in Cyprus, and Mr. Christos Rodosthenous, IT Officer at the Open University of Cyprus, presented the National Open Data Portal (https://www.data.gov.cy/) and other available sources of data, as well as useful examples.
The presence of the sponsors of the 2nd Cyprus Open Data Hackathon was also evident. Bank of Cyprus, the main sponsor of the competition, was represented by Mr. Christos Nicolaou and Exerte by Ms. Agni Photiou, who closed the Hackathon Info Day event with their presentations.
