Soon, passengers flying through Paphos Airport will be able to enjoy a touch of luxury before takeoff, thanks to a brand-new VIP terminal that’s set to open by the end of 2025.
The new terminal, which will also serve general aviation flights and state officials, will offer an upgraded, comfortable, and private space for distinguished travellers, adding another feather to Cyprus’ cap as it continues to modernize its aviation infrastructure.
Luxury meets functionality
The VIP terminal will cover 1,000 square meters and is designed to handle passengers from around 2,500 flights annually. The goal is to provide a top-tier experience to both high-profile visitors and private aviation users, including business jets and air taxis.
Beyond plush seating and premium lounges, the new space will be a fully functional entry and exit point into the Republic of Cyprus. It will be equipped with all necessary services — including security screening, customs, and civil aviation support, just like the main terminals.
Who’s behind the upgrade?
A consortium of three companies has been selected to take on the project:
- Nobelis Secret Valley,
- A flight consulting group, and
- The globally recognized Changi Airport in Singapore.
The trio will handle financing, development, operation, and maintenance of the new facility, which will be built within the old Paphos airport premises, breathing new life into the area while aligning with Hermes Airports' broader strategy for airport development.
A boost for Cyprus aviation
Speaking to “K”, Transport Minister Alexis Vafeiadis hailed the project as an important leap forward for Cyprus. He said it strengthens the island’s reputation as a hub for high-level and executive travel and proves Cyprus’ commitment to improving its air transport sector through smart investments and international collaborations.
“This is about more than luxury,” he noted. “It’s about making Cyprus a welcoming, efficient and modern destination for all kinds of travellers, including private and state visitors.”
Hermes Airports confirmed that the contractor selection process is complete, and all that remains is for the signatures to be finalized. Once the paperwork is done, construction is expected to move forward swiftly, with the terminal ready for takeoff by the end of the year.
