The Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia has launched the "Neighborhood Social Worker" program, a significant step towards improving access to social services for its residents. This initiative, a collaborative effort with the Social Welfare Services of the Ministry of Social Welfare, aims to bridge the gap between citizens and government support systems.
"The launch of this program aligns with the pan-Cypriot implementation of the European-funded 'Neighborhood Social Worker' program," stated a Municipality announcement. "By establishing a presence within the community, we aim to assist vulnerable individuals, families, and groups who may require psychosocial support but lack the knowledge or resources to seek help."
The program offers a range of services, including counseling and psychosocial support for adults, children, and families. It also focuses on social risk prevention, promoting healthy lifestyles, and providing crucial information on social issues. Furthermore, the "Neighborhood Social Worker" will actively collaborate with public, municipal, and other relevant services to ensure comprehensive support for residents.
Beyond direct service provision, the program will actively engage the community by raising awareness of social issues and empowering citizens to address concerns within their neighborhoods. This will involve organizing informative lectures, workshops, and activities focused on social concerns.
The "Neighborhood Social Worker" program is entirely free of charge and available to all residents within the Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia. For more information or to schedule an appointment, residents of Paralimni can contact the Municipal Department at 99361884. Residents of Deryneia, Frenaros, and Acheritou can contact their respective Municipal Departments at 99274058. Program hours of operation are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
The "Neighborhood Social Worker" program is part of the "Restructuring of Social Welfare Services" project, co-funded by the European Union under the Cohesion Policy Programme "Thalia 2021-2027."
