Twenty confirmed cases of coronavirus are currently being treated at Famagusta General Hospital, where a drive through testing process was set up to keep those on the front lines safe.
One patient who was being treated for COVID-19 was released Wednesday after testing negative following treatment at the Famagusta General, while two remained in the hospital’s ICU according to the Cyprus News Agency.

CNA also reported that the hospital on the eastern coast has also set up a drive through testing process whereby people referred by dispatchers from the 1420 hotline can be tested as they drive through the hospital’s basement parking area.
The move came after nine more cases were confirmed on Wednesday, including an adult patient at Nicosia General and a young infant at Makarios Children’s Hospital, bringing the total number of known COVID-19 cases to 133 in the Republic of Cyprus. There were 44 known cases in the north.
Two other cases in the south were particularly alarming to authorities as their history of contacts had not been established. Fears of the coronavirus turning into an endemic infection have been spreading over the island, as more cases involving no travel overseas have been detected.
Decrees banning unnecessary or unjustified movement remained in effect on both sides of the divided island.
