Police intercept vehicle carrying €7,150 cash and duty-free goods

Driver fined €15,000 in highway contraband case with positive drug test

Yesterday at 6:30 pm, police officers pulled over a vehicle driven by a 34-year-old on the Nicosia-Limassol highway just past the Pera Chorio exit.

During a subsequent investigation inside the vehicle, they found €7,150 in cash and a significant quantity of duty-free products. Customs Department officials were called to the scene to document the discovery.

Among the confiscated items were 95 boxes of different cigarette brands, 15 cigarette packs, 75 boxes of e-cigarettes, and 54 packs of tobacco.

The case was resolved outside of court with the 34-year-old paying a €15,000 fine. Additionally, the individual tested positive during a preliminary screening test and was found to be driving without a valid safety certificate.
