Authorities are investigating the sudden death of a 6-year-old girl, the child of Nigerian asylum seekers, in Paphos, according to Paphos Assistant Police Operations Director Michalis Nikolaou.
The girl, who lived in Paphos with her parents, had multiple congenital health issues, Nikolaou said. On July 17, she underwent a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy at Paphos General Hospital and was discharged on Thursday afternoon.
After returning home, the child went to sleep and did not wake up. She was taken to the Accident and Emergency Department at Paphos General Hospital on Thursday evening, where doctors pronounced her dead.
Preliminary police investigations indicate no suspicion of foul play.
