The Cyprus Police will step up traffic checks this weekend, with officers focusing on whether drivers and passengers are wearing seat belts and whether children are travelling in appropriate child or booster seats.
The enforcement campaign will run on Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23, as part of a wider effort to reduce serious and fatal road collisions and improve road safety.
Police will also carry out public information activities alongside the checks, with officers placing particular attention on the correct use of child and booster seats.

Official figures show that seat-belt violations remain a significant issue on Cyprus roads. Between January 1 and June 30, police issued 4,075 out-of-court complaints to drivers and passengers for failing to wear a seat belt.
A further 178 complaints were recorded during the same period for carrying passengers on seats that were not properly secured.
The Police said the campaign is intended not only to enforce traffic regulations but also to encourage safer behaviour among road users and strengthen road safety awareness.
The weekend operation forms part of the Police's ongoing traffic enforcement activities aimed at preventing collisions and reducing the number of serious injuries and deaths on Cyprus roads.
