The Permanent Criminal Court of Nicosia has postponed the proceedings in the naturalization case involving former Transport Minister Marios Demetriades and nine other individuals until April 25th.

Originally scheduled for today, the hearing was set to allow the accused to address the charges they face.

A total of ten individuals, including eight private individuals and two legal entities, are facing 59 charges. These charges include influence peddling, bribery, money laundering, conspiracy to defraud, money laundering from illicit activities, and violations of a Council of Europe convention on criminalizing corruption.

Among those accused are Marios Demetriades, Andreas Demetriades, Dimitris Demetriades, Giorgos Demetriades, Eleni Simillidi, Jing Wang, Josef Friedrich Santin, Vasiliki Georgiou-Santin, the company Andreas Demetriades & Co LLC, and the company Delsk (Cyprus) Business Services Ltd.

During today's session, prosecutor Andreas Aristeidis informed the court that two defense attorneys had submitted a letter to the Attorney General requesting additional evidence. He noted that the evidence is currently being prepared and will be submitted by mid-next week.

In response, the defense attorneys collectively requested a postponement to allow time to review the new evidence. They also asked the prosecution to confirm that all relevant evidence has been provided, including telecommunication data and witness testimonies.

In light of this, the Court agreed to postpone the case, with the next hearing scheduled for April 25th at 9:30 a.m.
