Tornaritis launches ''Get Up'' movement: Politics, but run like a business

With a focus on expertise over party politics, Tornaritis says it’s time to stop letting amateurs run the country

Christoforos Tornaritis has unveiled the first glimpse of his new political movement, ''Get Up,'' which promises to ditch traditional politics in favor of what he calls a more professional, business-style approach to running the country.

In a social media post, Tornaritis laid out a bold vision: a movement run like a well-organized company, where every person is responsible only for what they’re trained and qualified to do. “In a factory, you don’t ask the cleaner to fix a machine, you call the mechanic,” he wrote. “The same should apply to politics.”

“Get Up” doesn’t promise miracles, Tornaritis said. But it does promise competence.

Experts over politicians

Tornaritis emphasized that "Get Up" won't operate like a typical political party. Instead, it will rely on teams of professionals with real-world experience. Architects and engineers will propose plans for new prisons, hospitals, and better roads. Psychologists will design school programs focused on emotional intelligence and critical thinking. Legal experts, not politicians, will be responsible for proposing new laws.

“Political chatter from people who don’t know the law will end,” he declared.

Focus on real-world solutions

The movement also introduces new areas of focus, including digital transformation, climate strategy, and modernizing education.

Young developers will be tasked with piloting government digitization and AI projects, while scientists will take the lead on green policies, from energy-saving measures in public buildings to sustainable rural development.

On education, “Get Up” plans to rethink school curricula, link education to the job market, and introduce entrepreneurship in high schools.

Cyprus Problem: Let the experts handle it

Tornaritis also touched on the Cyprus issue, saying it should be handled by seasoned diplomats and top experts, not politicians without relevant experience. He personally believes a stronger relationship with the United States could help revive stalled peace efforts.

No promises, just professionalism

“Get Up” doesn’t promise miracles, Tornaritis said. But it does promise competence. The movement’s message is clear: if you want a better-run country, you need to put the right people in the right roles, just like in any successful business.

“Never again,” he said, “will we let this country be run by political figureheads.”

Tornaritis ended his message with a rallying cry: “Stand up. Never surrender. Those who think this way, come together.”
