Tornaritis calls MEP Fidias ‘Hitler’ during tense TikTok debate

Tornaritis accuses Fidias of ignoring advice in tense TikTok session

A TikTok live session hosted by popular Cypriot influencer Nana ignited intense debate last night, featuring newly elected Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Fidias Panayiotou and businessman Christophoros Tornaritis. The discussion, initially opened to public questions, soon shifted to contentious issues such as the Cyprus conflict and political accountability.

Addressing the Cyprus issue, Panayiotou emphasized the importance of dialogue with Turkish Cypriots, suggesting that economic progress may only be achieved through a comprehensive agreement recognizing both occupied Cyprus and the Republic of Cyprus as a unified entity. On his pre-election promises about education reform, Panayiotou asserted that he remains committed to his principles and is not obligated to please others.

Tensions escalated when Tornaritis joined the conversation. Panayiotou appeared uncomfortable and attempted to limit Tornaritis’ input, prompting a fiery response. Tornaritis lashed out, calling Panayiotou derogatory names such as “mastermind” and “Hitler,” accusing him of ignoring advice on assembling the MEP group.

What began as a straightforward Q&A session quickly devolved into a heated confrontation, underscoring the deep divisions and personal animosities between the two figures.
