Two tiny Chihuahuas were left behind like they didn’t matter.
That’s how a heartbreaking post on the Lost & Found Pets of Cyprus Facebook page begins to unfold, with videos showing the small dogs alone inside a fenced area at Academia Park in Aglantzia, visibly distressed and unsure of what was happening around them.
The post, shared by Marianna Sevasti, says the dogs were found abandoned inside the park with no owner in sight. In the videos, the dogs can be seen pacing, whining and shaking.
The images quickly struck a nerve online, with animal lovers reacting with anger, sadness and disbelief that someone could walk away from two helpless animals and leave them behind a fence, confused and terrified.
Animal welfare advocates say abandonment cases like this are becoming more common, particularly in public spaces where people assume someone else will step in. But every hour alone increases the risk, not just from hunger or exposure, but from the stress that can leave lasting trauma.
As of the time of the post, there was no information about who abandoned the puppies or whether the owner would be traced. What is clear is that the videos have reignited calls for stronger responsibility when it comes to pet ownership and harsher consequences for those who treat animals as disposable.
