Caritas opens KIPOS for kids and curious minds

From juggling to job skills, a new community space in Nicosia is blooming with activity

Newsroom

Caritas Cyprus has just planted something special in the heart of Nicosia, and it’s already growing smiles.

Welcome to KIPOS, the Greek word for “garden,” but here it means much more. It’s a new, open space where children, and anyone curious, can pop in between 2pm and 5pm on weekdays to learn something new, meet new people, or just hang out in a safe, welcoming environment.

But this isn’t your typical classroom.

Instead of formal lessons, KIPOS offers fun, flexible activities that nurture creativity, confidence, and community spirit. The sessions are designed to be drop-in friendly; no need to sign up, no pressure to commit, just come as you are.

So what’s on the menu for kids this week? How about juggling class, Arabic for children, and even a friendly game of football? Next week might bring painting, drumming, or story time. The schedule changes every week, and it’s all designed with young minds in mind.

“We’re not trying to replace school,” Caritas says. “We’re creating a space where learning feels like play and kids can explore their interests at their own pace.”

Older participants can also benefit, with life-skill sessions covering things like how to manage money, look for jobs, write a CV, or get help navigating healthcare. There’s even homework support for students.

All in all, KIPOS is a little garden of possibility, open to everyone, regardless of age, background, or language. Whether you want to learn, laugh, play, or just meet someone new, KIPOS is there, blooming five days a week.

Check Caritas Cyprus’ website for the weekly schedule and head to the garden. You never know what might be growing.
