91% repatriation rate achieved in Cyprus

Cyprus police collaborate with Frontex and Greece

Today marks the tenth collaborative effort between the Cyprus Police and European countries, orchestrated under the guidance of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, Frontex.

Specifically, members of the Foreigners and Immigration Service (YAM) are participating in a coordinated operation aimed at the forcible repatriation of 16 third-country nationals who had been residing illegally in Cyprus. This operation involves a joint flight organized by the Greek authorities.

Since the beginning of this year up to September 27, 2023, a total of 6,918 third-country nationals have returned to their countries of origin through voluntary or compulsory repatriation operations, while Cyprus has witnessed 7,592 arrivals.

The return/deportation rate concerning arrivals stands at an impressive 91%, with the next flight scheduled for October 31, 2023.
