''We need to meet and talk with our compatriots and discuss about our common future'' said DISY's Averof Neofytou in a tweet announcing his meeting with Ozdil Nami.
Nami is a former negotiator for the Turkish Cypriot side. The two men accompanied by their spouses met at Nami's residence in the north. Neophytou has been stepping up efforts to build trust with the Turkish Cypriot side in an attempt to initiate a new round of peace talks.
A few weeks ago Neophytou met Kudret Ozersay at Kormakitis to discuss a way out of the current stalemate.
The promotion of such meetings in the public sphere comes to disprove assumptions of a permanent division between the two sides.
