The District Administration of Limassol has sent forms to the fire-affected communities to be completed by those claiming compensation for their properties damaged by the devastating wildfire and who are not already registered in the Integrated Administrative and Financial Information System of the General Accounting Office (FIMAS).
This was stated to CNA by the Deputy District Officer of Limassol, Elektra Panayiotou, who said that a relevant directive has been issued by the Republic’s General Accountant. This directive requires those affected who are not yet registered in the computerized payment system to immediately submit an application in order to enable the transfer of the compensation payment.
“Those who were already receiving allowances for mountainous communities are already registered in FIMAS and do not need to complete the form,” clarified Ms. Panayiotou, adding that the relevant application forms have been sent to the community councils of the fire-affected areas. Affected residents should complete the forms as soon as possible and provide proof of their bank account (IBAN).
Regarding the damage assessments, the Deputy District Officer said that so far, 393 phone calls have been received concerning properties, of which 288 relate to residences and 105 to other buildings. Additionally, calls reporting vehicle damage have reached 129.
She noted, however, that the teams of the District Administration have recorded more properties and vehicles than those reported and urged anyone who has not yet made a phone report to do so as soon as possible.
She reminded that the instructions given by the Ministry of Interior require this process to be completed by tomorrow, Wednesday, 30 July.
Those who have suffered damage from the fire can report it by calling 25 806405, 25 806459, 25 806426, or 25 806422.
