Heavy thunderstorms on the Limassol - Nicosia highway around 11:40 on Friday morning (19/11) resulted in slower traffic speeds.
A video posted on the Kairofili Kyprou Facebook page shows the heavy rainfall as well as the low visibility.
In the afternoon the weather will be mostly cloudy with expected local rains and isolated thunderstorms. Hail is also possible in storm areas. Thin dust will be suspended in the atmosphere. The winds will blow mainly southwest to northwest, weak 3 and locally up to moderate 4 Beaufort. The sea will be a little turbulent but in the west and north, it will be turbulent.
In the evening the weather will be mostly cloudy and local rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected, mainly on the beaches. The winds will blow mainly Northwest, light to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to a little turbulent on the south and east coasts but on the west and north, it will be turbulent. The temperature will drop to 13 degrees inland, around 15 on the coast and 6 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tomorrow the weather will be mostly cloudy and from time to time local rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected. The winds will blow mainly northeast, initially weak to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort but gradually on the windward coast, up to strong 5 Beaufort. The sea will be light to moderately turbulent. The temperature inland and on the coast will be around 21 degrees, and around 11 degrees in the higher mountains.
On Sunday the weather will be mostly cloudy and from time to time local rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected.
On Monday and Tuesday, the weather will be partly cloudy and isolated rains are expected, with the possibility of a storm.
The temperature will fluctuate at the same levels on Sunday which are close to the climatic averages. A gradual rise is expected on Monday and Tuesday.
