Cyprus is bracing for dusty conditions and intermittent showers leading up to Holy Week, according to the country's Meteorological Service.
The atmosphere is expected to carry dust particles until Holy Wednesday, with concentrations periodically rising. Today, on Holy Tuesday, locals can anticipate increased cloud cover, with isolated showers or possible thunderstorms forecasted, particularly in mountainous and inland regions. Hail may accompany these thunderstorms.
Winds are predicted to predominantly blow from the southwest to northwest, ranging from light to moderate, around force 3 to 4. Meanwhile, sea conditions are expected to be slightly rough.
Temperature-wise, inland areas are set to reach highs of 32 degrees Celsius, around 28 degrees in southern and eastern coastal areas, approximately 25 degrees along western and northern shores, and 21 degrees in elevated mountainous terrain.
As the evening descends, the cloud cover will persist intermittently, accompanied by a shift in wind direction from the northwest to variable, remaining light.
Looking ahead to Holy Wednesday, similar conditions are anticipated, with sporadic cloudiness and the potential for showers or thunderstorms, mainly in mountainous, inland, and eastern areas.
As the week progresses towards Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, the weather is expected to clear up, although intermittent cloud cover may persist.
While temperatures will gradually decrease, they are forecasted to remain above seasonal averages, ensuring a relatively warm lead-up to the Easter holiday weekend.
