EAC expands smart meter installation across Cyprus

Brief power cuts expected as crews roll out upgrades in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos

Newsroom

The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) announced that beginning Wednesday, July 9, it will continue its large-scale rollout of smart electricity meters across several regions of the island, a move aimed at modernizing the country’s power grid.

Smart meters will be installed in homes and businesses in parts of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos. The installation process will require short power cuts, which EAC says will not exceed 20 minutes.

Where installations are happening:

In Nicosia:

Lakatamia: Around the Archangelos roundabout and the area southwest between Spyrou Kyprianou and Archangelou Michail Avenues, down to Mangli Lake.
Northwest of Archangelou Michail and Morphou Avenues: Along Heroes Street.
Strovolos: Around the Archangelos roundabout, extending northeast toward the Pedieos Linear Park.

In Limassol:

Limassol Marina area:

Both sides of Franklin Roosevelt and Missiaouli & Kavazoglou Streets.
Between Franklin Roosevelt, Demokratias, and Missiaouli & Kavazoglou Streets.
Between Spyrou Araouzou, Ellados, Gladstonos, Georgiou Karaiskaki, and Zina Kanther Streets.
Single-phase meter installations:

Omonia, Agios Spyridonas, and the Provita area.
The section between Missiaouli & Kavazoglou and Franklin Roosevelt.

In Larnaca:

Aradippou:

North of Grigori Afxentiou Avenue, starting from the municipal stadium.
Surrounding Michail Paride, 1st April, Modestos Panteli, Mesolongiou, Odysseas Androutsos, Eleftherios Venizelos, Kilkis, 25th March, Agia Sofia, and Archbishop Makarios III Avenues.

In Paphos:

From Tombs of the Kings Avenue through Aristarchou, Itzian Ali, and Felahoglou Streets, reaching the community borders of Chlorakas.

The EAC said the power interruptions are necessary to safely complete the upgrades and apologized in advance for any inconvenience.

Smart meters allow for real-time energy monitoring, remote readings, and quicker detection of faults, part of the EAC’s broader effort to modernize its services and improve energy efficiency across the island.
