Five new coronavirus cases emerged on Monday after 1,504 samples were checked for the virus.
The new cases involve three people who were tested upon repatriating to the island, one member of staff of hospital labs, and one employee of a business that recently resumed operation.
Speaking at the Health Ministry’s daily briefing, member of the government’s health advisory committee Leondios Kostrikis said Monday’s development does not drive the island’s positive epidemiological picture off course, but urged the public to maintain personal protection measures.
Monday’s new cases brought total known cases in the Republic of Cyprus to 949.
Currently, three coronavirus patients are being treated at the Famagusta General Hospital, while three more are intubated at the Nicosia General Hospital ICU.
