A yellow warning for severe thunderstorms was issued Monday morning by the Weather Service, set to last from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. BST. The warning affects the Highlands, interior, and southern regions, with isolated strong storms forecast. Hail may accompany the storms, and rainfall intensity is expected to range between 35 and 55 millimeters per hour.
A weak low-pressure system and unstable air mass are impacting the region, which is expected to ease by tonight. Monday’s weather will begin mostly clear but will become partly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms, primarily affecting the Highlands, interior, and southern areas. Hail is possible during storms. Winds will be light to moderate, coming from the southwest to northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort. Seas will be slightly rough. Temperatures will reach around 30°C inland, 28°C along the coast, and 21°C in the mountains.
By evening, clouds will linger along the coast, possibly bringing isolated showers. Winds will remain weak at 3 Beaufort, with calm to slightly turbulent seas. Temperatures will drop to 19°C inland, 20°C along the coast, and 11°C in higher elevations.
On Tuesday, the weather will be mostly clear, though increased cloud cover may bring isolated showers in the mountains by the afternoon. Clear skies are expected on Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures gradually rising above average for the season.
