Following the President's announcement of the "At Every Start, Together" initiative aimed at supporting students at the beginning of the new school year and easing family budgets amid rising costs, the Ministry of Education, Sports, and Youth (MESY) has clarified the details of the measures. These measures are available to all students who meet the eligibility criteria, regardless of income or other financial conditions.
The measures include:
1. A €100 grant for school supplies for students entering Grade 1 of primary school, Grade 1 of middle school, Grade 1 of high school, and Grade 1 of technical school for the 2024-2025 school year. The grant will be deposited into a bank account provided by the parents or guardians upon completion of a relevant form at the start of the school year.
2. A €200 subsidy for the purchase of tablets for all students entering Grade 3 of primary school in public schools for the 2024-2025 school year. The tablets must meet minimum technical specifications, and the subsidy will be issued based on the submission of a relevant invoice.
3. A €400 grant for the purchase of laptops for all students entering Grade 2 of middle school in public schools for the 2024-2025 school year. The laptops must meet minimum technical specifications, and the grant will be issued based on the submission of a relevant invoice.
4. A €150 subsidy from the Ministry of Social Welfare (MSW) for families eligible for child benefits with at least three children attending pre-primary, primary, secondary, or technical education, including those in private schools.
5. A €150 subsidy for families with at least three children attending public pre-primary, primary, secondary, or technical education who do not qualify for any of the aforementioned measures. This subsidy will be provided by MESY and deposited into a bank account provided by the parents or guardians upon completion of a relevant form at the start of the school year.
6. A reduction in public transportation fares from €200 to €30 annually for students in general and technical secondary education attending public schools. This reduction will be administered by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Works.
