Greek Cypriots bring in millions in food and fuel purchases, says T/C newspaper

Turkish Cypriot newspaper "Kibris" claims that thousands of Greek Cypriots visit the occupied territories every day to fill up on gas and shop for food which, thanks to the exchange rate, is much cheaper than in the controlled areas of the Republic.

The newspaper interviewed the supposed Finance Minister Olgun Abtzaoglu who claimed that fuel demand in the occupied areas went from 20-25 million liters per month to over 30 million liters.  This, according to the "minister" brings in a profit of over 600 million Turkish lire per month, or just over 33,000,000 euros, helping to improve the economy in the occupied territories.
