Emergency services were called into action early Sunday morning after a hunter fell into a deep ravine in the mountainous area of Gerasa, in Limassol District.
Initial reports indicate that the man lost his footing while moving through rough terrain and plunged roughly 50 meters down a steep embankment. The fall left him trapped and unable to climb out on his own.
Teams from the Fire Service and the Special Disaster Response Unit (EMAK) were immediately dispatched to the scene. Using specialized rescue equipment and ropes, they managed to reach the injured hunter and bring him to safety after a coordinated operation.
Once recovered from the ravine, the man was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he underwent medical examinations to assess his condition.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the hunter’s identity or the extent of his injuries, but he is reported to be in stable condition.
The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers faced by hunters and hikers navigating Cyprus’s rugged countryside, particularly during the hunting season when steep slopes and uneven ground can pose serious risks.
