Authorities probe garage explosion: Suspects sought

Authorities were placed on high alert early Thursday, April 18, following an explosion in the Lefkosia Province, sending shockwaves through the community.

According to police reports, around 01:30, authorities received alarming information regarding an explosion in the residential area of Lakatamia. Swiftly responding to the call, law enforcement officers rushed to the scene, where they encountered the aftermath of a sinister act.

Investigations revealed that unidentified perpetrators had strategically planted an explosive device within the confines of a residential garage. The targeted residence belonged to an unsuspecting 30-year-old and a 31-year-old, whose vehicles were parked inside at the time of the detonation.

The force of the blast inflicted significant damage to one of the vehicles, leaving it in a state of disrepair. However, the extent of the damage to the second vehicle remains uncertain, pending further assessment by authorities.

In light of the incident, the affected area has been cordoned off by police, as forensic experts meticulously comb through the scene for crucial evidence. Residents in the vicinity are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to ensure the safety and security of the community.
