Greek Cypriot man arrested at crossing point after Turkish Cypriot police find hunting rifle in his car

A Greek Cypriot man was arrested by Turkish Cypriot police at a checkpoint on Monday, following the discovery of a hunting rifle in his vehicle.
The 50-year-old Larnaca resident attempted to cross from the south into the north on Monday around 11am through the Pergamos checkpoint, north of Pyla.
During an inspection by Turkish Cypriot police officers, a hunting rifle was discovered inside the man’s vehicle and he was arrested on the spot, according to reports made available in the south.
The detainee is expected to appear before a Turkish Cypriot judge on Tuesday.
