An extraordinary and captivating event is set to grace the coastal city of Larnaca, as the organizers of the Larnaca Biennale prepare to unveil a remarkable experience that will bring the moon closer to Earth, albeit metaphorically. This awe-inspiring event is scheduled to take place at Zoukouri Square from November 13 to 19.
After tireless efforts and meticulous planning, the renowned British artist Luke Jerram's "Museum of the Moon" has made a successful landing in Cyprus. This exceptional installation, celebrated for its enthralling presentations across the globe, offers visitors the opportunity to gaze upon an exact seven-meter replica of the moon.
Crafted with meticulous precision using high-resolution images (120dpi) provided by NASA's Scientific Centre, this replica faithfully represents the lunar surface on a 1:500,000 scale. Every centimeter of this illuminated spherical installation mirrors a staggering 5 kilometers of the actual moon.
The arrival of this extraordinary art piece has sparked anticipation and excitement as it prepares to be installed at Zoukouri Square, where it will stand tall at a height of three meters, ensuring it captivates and amazes all who attend.
The "Museum of the Moon," renowned and exhibited at significant locations worldwide, has earned widespread acclaim for its remarkable precision in replicating the lunar sphere. To commemorate this momentous arrival, the Zoukouri complex will host a series of events, featuring a complementary musical backdrop provided by the esteemed BAFTA award-winning composer, Dan Jones.
The mastermind behind this grand creation, Luke Jerram, originally from the United Kingdom, has been making a global impact with his artistry since 1997, crafting exceptional sculptures, installations, and live artworks.
This eagerly awaited addition to the Larnaca Biennale's parallel events is organized by the innovative platform "Once In a Blue Moon" and facilitated by Wonderdots.
Generous sponsorships from AsusPlus Auditors and Tax Consultants, Edge Development Group, and Scaffolding Solutions have turned the moon's arrival in Cyprus into a reality. The event receives additional support from the Municipality of Larnaca and Larnaca Act, promising an unforgettable experience for all attendees. Make sure not to miss the grand unveiling of this celestial masterpiece, which promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime event.
