A man is in critical condition with a head injury following a physical assault that appears to have started after his refusal to pay back €40.
According to media reports, a 46-year-old Romanian male was spotted injured and covered in blood on the floor of his own residence in Larnaca.
The man was rushed to the Emergency Room at Laranca General Hospital where doctors determined he had brain hemorrhage. In a statement Tuesday morning, police said the man was taken to Nicosia General where he would be scheduled for surgery due to his critical condition.
The alleged perpetrator asked the 46-year-old to pay back €40, with the latter refusing to do so
The 46-year-old is believed to have been injured during an altercation with another male, a 44-year-old also from Romania. The alleged perpetrator is believed to have pushed the man causing him to fall to the ground.
According to some local media, the reason behind the altercation was money owed by the alleged victim to the 44-year-old man. Reports said the alleged perpetrator asked the 46-year-old to pay back €40, with the latter refusing to do so.
CID Larnaca are investigating the case while the 44-year-old man is wanted by police. The 46-year-old was said to be out of danger but remained in critical condition.
