A man was found dead in the Omonia area of Athens, inside the apartment where he was temporarily staying. The victim was bound hand and foot and had a bag over his head.
According to initial reports, the victim was approximately 40 years old and was discovered on the bed in the apartment. Based on rental information provided by the owner, he was an American citizen.
The incident came to light when the owner of the Airbnb apartment, located on Kolokynthous Street, entered to clean after the victim’s stay.
Officers from the Hellenic Police (EL.AS.) have arrived at the scene and are conducting an investigation. It has already been confirmed that security camera footage is available. Initial findings suggest that the man had been locked out of the apartment and that someone had brought him keys.
