A magnitude 3.9 earthquake struck off the coast of Cyprus early Sunday morning, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
The quake occurred at 1:02 a.m. local time (22:02 UTC on Sept. 6) at a depth of 13 kilometers. Its epicenter was located about 23 kilometers northeast of Limassol and 16 kilometers northeast of Mouttagiaka.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, but the tremor was widely felt in parts of Larnaka and Limassol districts.
Cyprus has experienced a series of small quakes in recent weeks. In the past 24 hours, three earthquakes have been recorded across the island, the strongest being Saturday night’s 3.9. Over the past 30 days, 61 earthquakes have been registered: two above magnitude 3, 12 between magnitude 2 and 3, and 47 below magnitude 2, which are generally too weak to be felt.
