Maria Constantinou, the mother of a man whose name appeared in handwritten notes connected to the Thanasis Nicolaou investigation, spoke out on the television program Aixmes (“Sharp Points”), condemning what she called a campaign of public shaming against her family.
“These references have already been examined by authorities,” Mrs. Constantinou said, noting that the documents had been in official hands for three years without any findings implicating her family. She criticized what she described as character assassination and the spread of false accusations through social media.
“For the past week, Facebook has been flooded with personal messages… my son was called a murderer, my ex-husband an accomplice,” she said.
Mrs. Constantinou questioned how the state safeguards citizens from being publicly defamed online, particularly when they have no connection to any crime.
