A rather bizarre incident took place in Paphos, where a Russian orthodox priest reported a burglary with holy relics being among the stolen goods.
Police on Monday arrested a 31-year-old man from Georgia in his apartment in Tala, in connection with a burglary at a Russian priest’s home, where fragments of human remains were stolen along with a laptop computer, jewelry of unknown value, a mobile phone, electronics, and the cash amount of €450.
Another man is wanted by police, a 28-year-old also from Georgia who is believed to have rented the apartment with the 31-year-old. Investigators also found other items believed to be products of theft from previous cases.
It is not clear whether 33 fragments of human remains, identified as holy relics, were in fact a target during the burglary
