As of last Monday, September 13, the assets of the new Members of Parliament were already published on the website.
The Cyprus Parliament approved a law in 2004 allowing the publication of asset declarations of public of officials, specifically the President of the Republic, the Speaker of Parliament, the Ministers and their deputies.
Asset declarations of public officials are a powerful tool to prevent corruption, detect illicit enrichment and conflicts of interests. According to the World Bank, more than 150 countries have introduced asset disclosure requirements for their public officials.
