A fashionable restaurant in the centre of Nicosia was heavily attacked with gunfire in the early hours of Wednesday, with authorities following CCTV leads depicting the gunman in action.

The gunning appears to have taken place at around 1am on Wednesday, with the perpetrator firing over 20 shots onto the restaurant’s façade. The owner of the restaurant alerted authorities once he saw the damage on Wednesday morning.

Reports said police have retrieved evidence that could identify the gunman from CCTV footage that shows the suspect getting on a motorbike, firing into the restaurant and then fleeing the scene.

The same restaurant was also targeted by arsonists in July 2020.
