Smart meter rollout begins across Cyprus

EAC starts installation in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos, with brief power interruptions expected.

Newsroom

Starting next Monday, the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) will begin the mass installation of smart meters across various regions of the island.

The new initiative is aimed at modernizing the way we monitor and manage electricity usage, offering more accurate readings and the potential for greater energy efficiency.

In Nicosia, the installation will take place between Stasinou and Digeni Akrita streets, as well as between Digeni Akrita and John Kennedy streets. In Limassol, expect smart meters to be installed in areas like Germasogeia, Agios Athanasios, and along the coast in Enaerios and Neapoli. In Larnaca, the Finikoudes area will be the focus, while in Paphos, smart meters will be installed in Kato Paphos.

The installation process will require a brief interruption of the electricity supply, though the EAC assures customers that it will not exceed 20 minutes. They’ve apologized for any inconvenience this may cause during the transition.

With this new rollout, Cyprus is taking a step toward smarter energy management.
