Ersin Tatar, the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community, held discussions with State Department officials in Washington as part of his visit to the United States, where he is scheduled to meet with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York today.

Reports from the Occupied Territories indicate that Tatar met with Michelle Sisson, Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations, and Joshua Haq, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Southern Europe and the Caucasus.

According to a statement released by his office, Tatar discussed the aspirations of the Turkish Cypriots and evaluated the outcomes of the ongoing discussions led by the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy for Cyprus, Maria Angela Olgin Quayar.

Accompanying Tatar were his Special Representative, Gounesh Onar, and Damla Goutslu, the "representative" of the unrecognized entity in Washington.
